Social Hour

When deciding where to begin the Pilates Barre Crawl (PBC), a quick search for studios nearby revealed a long list of contenders, but one name stood out – Barre Social. Who doesn’t want to start Barre hopping with friends at a place that literally invites you to be social? After checking the class schedule through the Mindbody app, we opted for the 8:45am BarreAmped Mixed Level class with Deana.

Greeted with a bright entrance and a friendly smile (even though 2 out of 3 Barre Crawlers were fashionably late 🤪), we quickly slipped off our shoes and headed into a studio fully set up for students. No need to bring mats or towels and no special footwear required. They even have hair ties in the ladies room should you forget yours. Score!

The instructor, who we later learned is also the owner, gently adjusted student form as needed without being a space invader or drill sergeant. Movements were small but what you expect from a barre workout without heavy focus on traditional ballet exercises or choreography. One thing that stood out was time devoted to stretching throughout the class. Designed for all levels, this class safely leads you to hit your muscle endurance threshold (that inevitable shaking that burns like hell 😬) no matter where you are in your fitness journey and then allows for adequate recovery time by fully stretching the targeted muscle. Trust us, whether or not you sweat, you’ll feel it the next day from arms 💪 to booty 🍑.

Afterwards, we were eager to meet Deana who offered us a studio tour. When finished with class, you can hangout on the Stall/Swedish Bars (pictured below) for extra stretching or walk to the back and relax in the comfy lounge area with a cold glass of water or a hot cup of coffee to chat about how badly your butt hurts.

This gorgeous zen like studio was a perfect place to begin our fitness adventure. Do yourself a favor, and check out them out too.  First week is free, so be sure to attend other classes offered, including several yoga options held in a separate heated room. Class times will fit any schedule from Red Eye Rebel to Lunch Breaker to Weekend Warrior. BONUS: they have childcare! And if you prefer to discuss your butt hurt over a cocktail, you can always transition to traditional Bar Crawling 🍻 with a short walk across the parking lot.  #winning
